KINGMAN — A Bullhead City teenager charged along with two others in the June 5 drive-by shooting at Rotary Park agreed to a plea agreement Monday.
Angel Manuel Salazar pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. He had been charged with attempted second-degree murder, drive-by shooting, another count of aggravated assault and two counts of discharging a firearm at a structure in the June 5 shooting.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney Bob Moon said the victims were not happy with the plea deal. The victim’s cousin read a letter saying how the shooting will affect her cousin for the rest of his life. She asked for an appropriate punishment for the suspect, more than the stipulated prison sentence.

If he accepts the plea agreement, Superior Court Judge Billy Sipe Jr. will sentence Salazar to 2.5 years in prison. The judge set the sentencing for Feb. 9. Salazar, 16, is being held in county jail on a $125,000 bond.
Salazar’s codefendants, Anthony Donnelly Kemp, 16, and Andres Ruiz-Solis, 18, are also charged with attempted murder, drive-by shooting, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of discharging a firearm at a structure.
Ruiz-Solis’ trial in the attempted murder case is set for May 7. He is held in custody on a $225,000 bond.
Ruiz-Solis is also charged in a second case with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated assault. Those charges allegedly occurred May 12 in Bullhead City. His trial in the armed robbery case is set for May 21.

Kemp’s next court date is Jan. 22. Kemp from Golden Valley is not in custody.
Around 10:30 p.m. June 5, the three teenagers had planned to meet another group of juveniles for a fight near the football fields at the Park, police reported.
Ruiz-Solis allegedly gave a 9mm Glock handgun to Kemp. A gun was also allegedly used in the May 12 armed robbery of two victims at Rotary Park, police reported stated.
Kemp was a passenger in a truck driven by Salazar when they drove to where the fight was to take place. Kemp allegedly fired four or five shots at the other group striking one teenager in the head. The victim was not the intended target, the police report stated.
The 16-year-old boy was shot in the back of the head and stomach. He was taken to a Fort Mohave hospital then later flown to a Las Vegas hospital. One bullet lodged in his skull with fragments puncturing his brain causing swelling and hemorrhaging.
