On Wednesday (2/26) at approximately 11:31AM, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a residence in the 18000 block of Mariposa Dr. in Dolan Springs in reference to a Welfare Check. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with a male subject, later identified as Randolph Cornell (64 of Dolan Springs). During this contact, a female subject was observed laying in the hallway of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Cornell was immediately detained and Deputies began life saving measures on the female victim. Medical personnel with Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire Department responded to the scene to provide further aid. The female was ultimately flown to a Las Vegas hospital where she is currently listed in critical condition.
Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation revealed that Cornell lived at this location with the female victim. During a verbal argument, Cornell shot the female multiple times. The female became immobile due to her injuries. Approximately one hour later, a friend came to the residence to pick up the victim. It was at this time that the friend observed the victim laying on the floor of the residence and attempted to go to her aid. Cornell then allegedly assaulted the friend and broke his cell phone. The friend then went to a local establishment where he had called for help.
Cornell admitted to his involvement in this incident and was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility where he was charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Assault, and Criminal Damage, all felonies. This investigation is ongoing.
