Las Vegas, Nev. – Las Vegas Metro Police report that Molotov cocktails and a firearm were used to set vehicles on fire at a Tesla collision center early Tuesday morning.
Tesla owners with vehicles being repaired at the center, located near Jones and the 215, stopped by to check on their cars. However, due to police boundaries, they were unable to approach the site. Only a few vehicles were visible until around 4 p.m. when the police tape was removed.
One Tesla owner, who wished to remain anonymous, said she had dropped off her car on Monday following an accident.
“I found out on the news. We were supposed to come earlier this morning to pick it up,” she said. She visited the center Tuesday morning to check on her vehicle but was unable to see it.
Another Tesla owner took a different approach, using his car’s remote cameras to assess the situation. The footage revealed damage to vehicles on both sides of his car, but the status of his own vehicle remained unclear.
“We will follow up shortly and figure out who actually owns each vehicle that was damaged and follow up with them personally,” said Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren during a briefing Tuesday morning.
Tesla owners weren’t the only ones affected by the incident.
A family visiting from California and staying in a short-term rental across from the collision center said they were jolted awake by loud explosions.
“I was kind of frantic, I’m not going to lie,” said Michelle Ramirez, a California resident. “I was dead asleep, and to wake up to those booms, I thought somebody was bombing or something. It shook the whole house.
