The bridge connecting Laughlin, Nevada, and Bullhead City, Arizona is gearing up for an over-week-long closure starting next week.
Laughlin Parkway leading to the Silver Copper Crossing will be closed to traffic starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, March 24 through 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 for safety improvements.
The bridge and adjacent roadways will reopen for weekend travel from Thursday at 6 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m.
The project is expected to take two weeks and includes the addition of ten 200-foot emergency turnouts along a 3.5-mile stretch of Laughlin Parkway. Four turnouts will accommodate eastbound traffic while six will serve westbound traffic.
“Helping to ensure the safety of our residents and the traveling public is an important focus of mine,” said Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft.
“We have consulted with Bullhead City, Arizona, to coordinate the impact on the region and look forward to the project being completed within the time frame.”
Motorists needing to cross the river are advised to use the SR-163 bridge, located 8 miles north of Silver Copper Crossing.
Alternatively, drivers can use Don Laughlin’s Bridge or a privately maintained bridge six miles south of the project area, which connects Fort Mojave to Laughlin near the Avi Resort & Casino via Aztec Road.
